African Village Expedition

History comes to life as we walk through the village. We pass houses made of mud and stick, thatched roofs; women in colourful dresses pass us carrying water from the river on top of their heads. Not much has changed over the years since the days of Livingstone and other past African explorers who traveled through villages like these. Like a wild west frontier town, one main dirt road is the centre of the village, government, and commerce. We’ll visit some folk along the way.

The Village Expedition is complimentary to guests of Baker & Sons Safari Lodge. Only remember to tip your staff guide.

    African Village Expedition

Not much has changed in our village of Mloka since the days of Livingstone, Selous and the great explorers of time past. Few places in East Africa are still remote. Our local guide will take you through the streets of the village meeting people outside of their mud and stick homes, visiting the local market, passing colourfully dressed women toting water on their heads and babies on their backs. Photography is welcomed.

Please take time while you are with us to visit our English School. Baker & Sons has founded and supports a school to teach English to the local villagers, called THE RUFIJI LIGHTHOUSE. Built on the village-end of our property, learn more.
