Introducing the Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania: one of the few remaining wild places

    Africa’s Best Kept Secret.

The Selous is one of the largest animal reserves in the world boasting some of the fullest populations of the many endangered and enticing creatures on the African Continent. It is four times more vast than the Endless Plains of Serengeti. An explorer’s paradise; it was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 1982, the diversity of its wildlife and its undisturbed nature making it a treasure to be cherished for generations to come. Truly the Selous is a vast untouched land with no permanent structures or human habitation. One of the last remaining wild places, it is named for the famous British hunter and conservationist, Frederick Selous who fell in battle in the park which now bears his name, fighting for his country in the First World War. His grave stone is in the reserve. Come, explore; you can still find the African Wild Dog roaming the vast stretches and tremendous topography of the Selous Game Reserve.

Think of a land and of a people on the continent, lost in a time gone by. Few places in East Africa are so untouched. Our Selous Cottages provide the authentic experience. Situated on the edge of the Great Selous Game Reserve, by design, located in the buffer zone between the African beasts and lost civilizations. We’ve built a beautiful establishment off the banks of the mighty Rufiji River.
